Asklepios
God of Medicine

Asklepios is the God of Medicine, son of Apollo and Koronis, a
mortal princess. Unlike His father, who worries about the balance
between health and disease, having in mind the all population, and
whose methods are more of the spiritual healing kind, Asklepios
concerns the health of each individual, with each little problem
that afflicts men and with a more physical kind of Medicine.
Asklepios was born a mortal, but His deeds eventually made him a God,
but not a God in Olympus, nor a God walking beneath the earth in
Hades - He is a God who walks the earth among men.
Serpents are His epiphany and He is present in the spirit of
physicians and all health care professionals, stimulating a
knowledge of the human body and of drugs and herbs. This God is not,
unlike His father, a distant one, who cares little about the
physical part of the human being, but one of those who takes care of
mankind and gives his hands to help us. In fact, we can say that
Asklepios gives as much for us as Prometheus once did, for if the
Titan showed us how to destroy and create, Asklepios shows us how to
preserve.
